Business Objects Receives 2004 Computerworld Honors Foundation
Medal of Achievement Award

San Jose, Calif. – April 7, 2004 – Business Objects (Nasdaq: BOBJ; Euronext Paris ISIN code FR0004026250 - BOB), a leading provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, has earned a Medal of Achievement from the 2004 Computerworld Honors Foundation. Nominated for inclusion in the 2004 Business & Related Services category by Merritt Lutz, chairman of Morgan Stanley IT Holdings, Business Objects was honored during a ceremony at San Francisco City Hall on April 4, 2004. Business Objects was selected for this award for helping its customer, Morgan Stanley, unlock the power of information. A case study detailing the positive impact Business Objects has had on Morgan Stanley and its employees is now a permanent part of the Computerworld Honors Collection.

“Each year, the Computerworld Honors Foundation identifies and recognizes individuals around the world whose visionary use of information technology produces and promotes positive social, economic and educational change,” said Bob Carrigan, president and publisher of Computerworld. “The innovators represented in this collection have been recognized by leading IT industry chairmen as true revolutionaries in their fields.”

“We are immensely pleased to have received the 2004 Computerworld Honors Medal of Achievement and proud that our customer, Morgan Stanley, chose to nominate us for this prestigious award,” said Bernard Liautaud, CEO of Business Objects. “Though technology has already produced dramatic changes throughout society, we have only just begun to realize the benefits of the Information Age. Today, most companies are far better at collecting data than at using their valuable information resources. At Business Objects, we believe we are making a meaningful contribution to society by enabling companies, governments, and other organizations around the world to harness the volumes of information they gather everyday, leading to smarter decisions and improved performance.”

Each year, a committee of leading IT industry chairmen serves as the nominators for inclusion in the case study archive. Chairmen nominate organizations in ten categories and nominees are asked to submit a case study about the work for which they were nominated. Once nominees submit their case studies, they are regarded as Laureates and are honored at the annual Medal Presentation Ceremony in San Francisco. Each of the ten categories is judged annually by a panel of independent judges in a search for the five best examples of the work being done that year. These fifty finalists are honored at an annual award ceremony in Washington, D.C. on June 7, 2004, at the National Building Museum.

Case studies from the 2004 Computerworld Honors Collection are available at http://www.cwheroes.org, the official internet site of the Computerworld Honors Foundation, where the entire Collection is available to scholars, researchers and the general public worldwide. In addition, the Collection is distributed annually to the Honors Foundation's Archival Partners around the world. These partners include some of the world's finest research and scholarly institutions, each of which has generously agreed to include the Collection in its archives.
