Business Objects has agreed to acquire Acta Technology for about $65m in cash. Acta, based in Mountain View, California, signed up as a Business Objects partner one year ago. Its main product is the ActaWorks extraction, transformation and loading tool, which Business Objects already sells in conjunction with its Application Foundation analytics application framework. But it also has a set of pre-packaged batch and real-time data movement modules called eCaches, which work with PeopleSoft and SAP applications. Privately held Acta, which has raised nearly $90m in funding since 1996, is said to have about 140 staff and annual revenue of $25m. Ascential, Sagent and Informatica are its competitors.
